If you have been spending a lot of time in ARC Raiders, the upcoming Frozen Trail update is worth preparing for before October. Embark Studios has confirmed an October 8, 2026 launch, with a first-look presentation scheduled for September 23. Along with a new snow-covered mountain settlement, the update brings major progression changes, customizable outposts, new ARC threats, and changes to currencies and rewards. For players who have been collecting ARC Raiders BluePrints and building up their inventory, this is a good moment to check what is changing before the new season of content begins.
The interesting part is that Frozen Trail is not simply another map added to the existing rotation. ARC Raiders BluePrints, progression, Raider development, and long-term goals are all connected to a broader overhaul. Some current resources will expire, while other systems are being expanded. That means the days before October 8 are useful for cleaning up unfinished goals and deciding what is worth spending or completing.
A New Mountain Settlement
The main attraction is the new frozen mountain settlement. Embark has described an area containing abandoned villages, factories, research facilities, and an observatory, with exploration taking place across different vertical levels.
That could make the map feel quite different from the areas players already know. Extraction games are heavily influenced by sightlines, routes, buildings, loot locations, and escape options. A more vertical environment can change all of those things at once.
The September 23 first-look presentation should give players a much better idea of how the map actually works. I would pay particular attention to underground areas, elevated positions, indoor routes, and possible extraction paths rather than focusing only on the scenery.
Cred Needs Attention
One of the most important pre-update details is Cred.
Embark has confirmed that Cred will be retired when Frozen Trail launches. Any remaining Cred will expire on October 8, so players should spend it before the update arrives. Existing rewards that have already been claimed will remain available.
This is easy to overlook if you have been saving currency for a future purchase. Instead of assuming that your balance will carry over, check what is currently available and decide whether there are useful rewards you can claim before the deadline.
The change also shows how much Frozen Trail is affecting the game's existing economy rather than simply adding new content on top.
Outposts Change the Long-Term Loop
Another major addition is the Outpost system. The Raider Den is being expanded, giving players a new space that can be customized while also connecting to research and progression.
Customization alone would not necessarily change how people play, but the broader system appears designed to give veteran Raiders more long-term objectives. Players who have already reached limits in existing progression should have more reasons to keep exploring, collecting resources, and completing activities.
The Skill Tree is also being reworked, which could make Raider development more flexible. The important details will be how many choices players receive and how existing progress interacts with the new structure.
New ARC Threats
Frozen Trail also introduces new ARC enemies and a major ARC Operation aimed at experienced players.
For me, this is one of the areas worth watching closely during the first-look stream. New enemies are only interesting when they change how a raid is played. A large ARC machine that controls an area, for example, could affect movement, noise, combat decisions, and extraction timing.
The new Operation could push those decisions even further. Cooperative objectives, valuable rewards, and dangerous encounters can create situations where a squad has to decide whether another minute of looting is worth the additional risk.
The Final Expedition Window
The fifth Expedition is scheduled to close on September 29, making it the final Expedition before the system is paused until early 2027.
If you are still working toward Expedition objectives, the deadline matters. Frozen Trail is arriving only a little over a week later, so players should not expect the current system to simply continue unchanged.
The pause is also intended to give Embark time to work on broader Expedition changes involving progression, rewards, and accessibility.
Get Ready Before October
For regular players, the simplest preparation is to deal with anything that has a clear deadline. Spend unused Cred, finish worthwhile current objectives, and check the Expedition schedule before September 29. If you plan to buy ARC Raiders BluePrints, make sure any purchase fits your actual progression plans rather than assuming every current system will remain unchanged after October 8.
The bigger point is that Frozen Trail looks like a structural update as much as a content update. The new map will get most of the attention, but the progression overhaul, Outpost, Skill Tree changes, new ARC encounters, and currency adjustments may have a bigger effect on everyday play. The September 23 presentation should finally show how these pieces fit together, giving Raiders a clearer idea of what to expect when Frozen Trail arrives.
