Most Diablo 4 patches lately have felt like someone fiddling with knobs while the real problem stays the same: your time doesn't get respected unless you're already at the top. This October update finally nudges the game toward "play more, get more," and you can feel it fast, especially if you're the sort of player who tracks runs, gear, and even Diablo 4 gold spending like it's a second job.
Bloodsoaked Jars stop pretending
The Bloodsoaked Jar situation wasn't just "low drop rate." It was a busted curve. If you weren't living in high Pit tiers, you might as well have been invisible to the loot table. Mid-tier players were hitting a wall, not because they played badly, but because the system basically told them, "Come back when you're already done." You'd see people asking for a sane progression rate—something like a few Bloodsoaked for every handful of Bloodstained—because without that, there's no momentum. After the patch, the wall's still there, but it's not made of concrete anymore. You can run meaningful tiers and actually see progress instead of empty hands, which changes how the whole grind feels.
Testing it the way normal players do
I'm not talking theorycraft spreadsheets. I mean the boring stuff: queue up, clear, reset, repeat until you're half-asleep. Before the update, I did a chunk of Pit runs around the same tier on my Necro and came away with nothing worth mentioning, which is the worst kind of outcome because it teaches you to stop caring. Post-patch, I started seeing Jars drop often enough that it didn't feel like a myth. Not raining loot, not a handout. Just enough to keep the loop alive. And that's the key difference: you can plan a session now. You can say, "Alright, I'll do these runs and probably walk away with something," instead of hoping the game decides to notice you.
The Soulspire Surge people are sleeping on
The funniest part is the best farming tech isn't even what Blizzard highlighted. Buried in the Infernal Chaos notes was that Soulspire range got bumped and ambushes show up more. Sounds tiny. It isn't. If you route smart, you can overlap two Soulspires and basically create a kill zone. The trick is discipline: stay in the overlap, don't drag mobs out, don't wander for one shiny pack. Pair it with the Ambushing Hellborne offer and the density goes wild, which means XP starts climbing in a way you'll notice run-to-run. If you're pushing Paragon levels, this is the kind of edge that feels earned, not lucky, and it's worth gearing around before it gets "adjusted," especially if you're also hunting diablo 4 s12 items to lock in the build for longer sessions.
